Reema Lagoo replaced by Ragini Shah on Naamkarann

Reema Lagoo’s untimely demise left the producers of Naamkarann with no other choice than to look for another actress to play Dayawanti Mehta on the drama. A day after the veteran actress’ death, Ragini Shah has been finalized to play the character of antagonist Dayawanti Mehta on the Star Plus show. Ragini will start the shoot of the show from today. She was roped in just after a single look test. A popular Gujarati theatre actress, Ragini has done many TV shows. She became popular as Bhabho’s mother-in-law in ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ and later as Dugba in ‘Saraswati Chandra ‘. She is a seasoned actress and a Gujarati as well. The makers felt she got the tone of Dayawanti Mehta’s character just right. Ragini has been associated with Gujarati stage and has done TV shows like Ek Mahal Ho Sapna Ka, Aati Rahengi Baharien and Mera Sasuraal in the last for last two decades. The current track of the story features Avni ( Aditi Rathore) getting married to Neil (Zain Imam ) to avenge all the injustice meted out to her mother by Dayawanti Mehta. The makers and creatives had no option but to end the character of Reema Lagoo during the wedding track. Reema had shot for a major wedding track just before she died. Ragini will take over from the scene where Reema was gunned down. Dayawanti will get to see the shock of her life when she will see that instead of her grand daughter Riya (Nalini Negi), it is her illegitimate grand-daughter Avni who has married Neil (Zain Imam). Later, it will be revealed that Neil and Neela (Sayantani Ghosh) had hatched this plan for Avni’s revenge. Dayawanti had killed Avni’s mom Asha (Barkha Bisht) when she was a kid. Throughout her life, Avni’s only mission was to destroy Dayawanti Mehta.
